Exploring Phuket…

Phuket: The Arrival

Recently I have traveled to Phuket, Thailand. Although this is not my first city I have traveled in Thailand (earlier 2 years back traveled to Krabi) but this been a very special experience. I will share my experience on my complete trip. Phuket is one of the southern provinces of Thailand. It consists of the island of Phuket, the country’s largest island, and another 32 smaller islands off its coast. It lies off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. The next nearest province is Krabi, to the east across Phang Nga Bay. Phuket is among the world’s finest beach destinations, with fine white sands, nodding palm trees, glittering seas and lively towns. Without wasting time on description of Phuket let’s start our journey.
The trip to Phuket was just a sudden decision of me and my wife while we were looking for something in budget(moreover for Indians Thai authority have declared to be Visa free for 2 months which helped us to finalize Thailand). As first step we gathered information on Phuket which helped us to decide where to stay. Then we booked our flight and hotel complete package from airasiago(http://www.airasiago.com/)  which resulting us in saving few bucks as it is cheaper to book like this with a great variety of Hotel options. As I have already traveled to Krabi, Thailand earlier so know a lot about Thailand beaches. This help us to prepare for our luggage packing. Our flight was of early morning so a day before we slept early and left for airport the next day to board flight at 6:45am.
We reached Phuket airport on time at local time. We directly went to immigration for Visa stamping. With immigration crossed we took taxi and went to our hotel in Patong. As it was still morning and hotel check in time was later we decided to drop our luggage and start our Phuket exploration.
The best way to explore Phuket city is on motor bike, therefore we also headed to nearby Bike Rental shop and rented a Honda Click 125cc new bike. This is automatic transmission bike so very easy to drive and enough powerful to go any place in Phuket. We started our Phuket Day-1 from Patong.

Phuket Day-1: Kalim Beach- Surin Beach- Kathu waterfall and Fantasea in evening

The day was shinny and was quite hot and humid so we had our sun’s cream applied, took our Sun Glasses and drive our way to explore Phuket. The roads n Phuket are good but have to be very careful as there are sometime very sharp turns and many ups and down where speed control is very necessary.  We first went to Kalim Beach which was near to us. We spent some time on the sea shore. Had our lunch near the beach in sea side restaurant and then moved forward to our next destination Surin Beach. Both Kalim and Surin beach are very beautiful. The tortoise color water and natural beauty will definitely attract you.  On our way to Kalim to Surin we booked the same day ticket to Fantasea 9pm event also.  For Fantasea the pickup from our hotel was from 5pm as the ticket we brought is the combination of pick and drop by shuttle, buffet dinner and the entry to the show at the Elephant Palace.
It was already 2pm when we reached Surin Beach so we decided to skip Kathu waterfall and head back to our hotel to take rest and get ready on time for Fantasea. For online booking can use Fantasea online link. (http://www.phuket-fantasea.com/eng/reservation/welcome.php).
Sharp at 5:00pm the shuttle came to pick us from our hotel. We were the first pickup so we took the first seat of the shuttle. With 3 more pickups the shuttle was full and we reached the magical land of Fantasea by 5:45pm. We rushed to the ticking counter to convert our voucher to tickets and after some photos outside the entrance gate we entered the theme parked. There is entry through the elaborate front gates into the Festival Village, a shopping street lined with ornate buildings representing different styles of Thai architecture. The Fantasea was very beautifully build and decorated. It was showing the rich style of Thailand with modern amusement too. After taking some photos of all the shops and attractions we moved to main dining area known as “The Golden Kinnaree”.  In this dining hall our buffet dinner was to be served.
The dinner was normal to good with a large variety of dishes. They were even having Vegetarian and Halal options too. Only the drinks were charged extra else you can eat whatever you find including spegaties and fried chicken. After dinner we saw a show in open theatre which was for wishing for Christmas and New Year. The main attraction was at The Elephant Palace and the show sitting started at 8:30. Our mobiles were submitted before the show. The show was very awesome with the use of elephants, tiger and other animals with acrobatic show. It was not to forget thing.
Around 10:20pm we got our shuttle back to hotel with memory of the Fantasea and the stuff toy we brought from there as a reminder. With our reaching hotel our first day of arrival in Phuket ended and we took a good sleep to get energize for next day tour.

Batu Caves

It was nearly three weeks of me being in Malaysia but had not left my office city of Cyberjaya. The first break came with the plan of going to Kuala Lampur (popularly known as KL). Me and my friend decided to visit the famous Hindu Cave temple “Batu Caves”. This temple is located at the exterior of KL. We started with the route analysis to reach as both of us were new to KL and have just little knowledge that we have gained from listening to people around our work place. A little notes about Batu Caves.   Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in the Gombak district, 13 kilometers (8 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu (Batu River), which flows past the hill. Batu Caves is also the name of the nearby village. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Rising almost 100 m above th...

Cyberjaya Lake

Very well said words by someone about weekend, "Creativity can release you from the limitations that the world has constructed around you; the everyday, mundane, 9-5 jail cell where everybody is waiting for the weekend to party so they can get outside of their head." Weekends are for fun and enjoyment. But this is not always true when you are in new country and don’t know anyone not the place. With few days of working in Malaysia and becoming friendly to the environment the most awaited day for everyone finally came. It was my first weekend in Malaysia. With very few friends and very little knowledge of the place I was not having any special plan for the weekend. Just to eat and remain in my apartment room watching TV or some good movie. It was about 2 pm and I was very comfortable in my bed watching movie on TV when one of my friend who have also came to Malaysia nearly the same time as of me called me. “Hello Harshit. Are you free today evening?” I replied in positive...

Before Leaving India

I recently got an offer from an MNC to work in Cyberjaya, one of the Malaysian IT hub (I like to mention that I am from India and here also I work with one of the biggest USA based MNC). It was really an excited time for me. I started dreaming of travelling to a foreign country. Although my excitement was faded once I told my parents about it. They were having concern of me of never returning back and leaving them alone in India. As everyone knows parent’s only happiness lies in their child happiness so they were later convinced with my promise to be always in touch with them and return back to India in few years. With the mind set of moving to Malaysia for work I started hunting for necessary information related to visit like visa procedure, things to do and don’t, life style, climate, culture, etc. Malaysia is a country of mix culture with people from round the globe. There are places where when can easily find of the things he want and eatables are also mind blowing. The first...

Spirituality & Religion

Today while I was reading the newspaper I saw some post from one of the Religious Leader claiming that their Religion is more Spiritually related. I know every Religion claims to be based on Spirituality. Actually, Spirituality and Religion, both are very interconnected terms. Sometime one is for taken as the second. In earlier days the way to attain spirituality was through the following of the guidelines given in religion, but laterally it has derived itself apart from religion. I think this association of both in earlier days still misguide some. In the words of Yogi William Irwin Thompson, “Religion is not identical with spirituality; rather religion is the form spirituality takes in civilization.” What is Spirituality? Everyone have their own answer for this although all of them lead to one common point, the point where one achieves a true peace of mind of oneself. Spirituality for me means an ultimate or immaterial reality, an inner path enabling a person to discover the ...
